You must know the operating temperature and the grease weight to select the appropriate spring.

For example, you will want a medium (silver) spring if the bearing operates within a 60ºF to 80ºF temperature range and grade 2 grease is used.

If you mounting on an extension, you might need an extra-heavy orange spring. It depends on the function and how well the spring works.
